Lorenzo Daliana strikes again. This time he’s on the edge of the Pearl and he’s opened a bar! The food is bar fare, with a twist (you’ll see) and the atmosphere is smoke free and clean and warm and inviting. Scattered all around on table tops are games like yahtzee, scrabble and backgammon; there is a shuffle board, pinball and pool! The whole place sends out that comfortable vibe that makes you feel like you ought to stay a while, have a bite, and relax. Try going to happy hour, between 5-7 for 25% off the food menu! Did I mention that the kitchen is spotless. So nice.

The Menu:
Basic Burger and Fries 7

I had the Baked Brie with Roasted Garlic, which also came with water crackers. The Brie Wedge is roasted until it’s melted through and roasted garlic cloves are sprinkled around it and topped with good olive oil and a little pepper. Simple, easy, and super yummy.
I also tried the Seared Ahi Tuna and avocado in Inari Pockets. This dish is for people who like to play with their food! The Tuna is seared and diced and tossed with the avocado in a little soy and stuffed into little tofu pockets. Seasoned perfectly on it’s own, however, try adding a little of the siracha and pickled ginger and a few bamboo shoots to a pocket, and the flavors build. Keep adding and combining till you run out of food.

I’m pregnant right now, and so, I wasn’t able to try out any of the house drinks, this time around. I had the ginger ale, and it was very perfect. According to other bloggers and food reviewers, the Manhattan rocks! There is a wine selection but I forgot to get that info. Go find out yourself. Here’s the mixed drink menu either way.

The prices are very right! Where else in the Pearl can you eat and drink for those kinds of prices? Just think of how many $10 mixed drinks you’ve had in the Pearl that were mediocre at best. No more!

The Haps at Bar Convivium:

Faggottron every 4th Friday! With Rad! Solomon and guests. For more about this go http://www.myspace.com/solomondj

Bingo! Seriously, I forgot when, so you ought to call and find out.

There are prizes! Lorenzo even hams it up. It could be fun!
SIN Poker Night.! I can’t remember if he told me when this was going to be for sure, but this would be awesome! You should call and harass the staff for SIN Poker night info!

Jesus Shut up!
Ok fine. Ok, just go. The prices are great, the staff is good looking, and the cook will give you yummy bratwurst, and all the while you can play a game of pool or shuffleboard, etc. The music was great Very appropriate for the atmosphere.

This could be the coolest place to be this summer. I’m just sayin’.

Go.

  1. […] Did you like this brief introduction? Find out about it in full detail here. […]

  2. sorry to say, Bar Convivium is now closed. :[

  3. So sad. My favorite/only neighborhood bar is closed. Sure there are other bars nearby but they don’t have that inviting neighborhood feel.

Did anyone else feel like this was the only clean bar in Portland? In my experience the pricey bars are full of icky people while the affordable spots are sticky and choked with smoke.

    The BC will be missed.
